"Line Concepts"

Caffeinated - For Caffeinated I felt that a buzzing energy should be present so I drew exaggerated lines that resembled electricity.

Dizzy - I drew a large cylindrical object with a ring in constant motion around it. This was to represent the dizzying sensation experienced when spinning in one spot.

Fragmented - I drew what looks like shattered glass, to represent somewhat of a jigsaw puzzle.

Explosive - I drew a darkened epicenter that seems to have several lines bursting from it. I did this to simulate an explosion.

Rhythmical - I drew almost a knock boombox slightly abstracted, with little dots bouncing above. I was thinking of dust bouncing around a blaring car speaker...

Radiant - My goal was to make something that simulates brightness coming from a sun like epicenter.

"Sketchbook: Incomplete Line"

Stephen Gamell, Sep 1, 1991, Surreal

I chose Stephen Gamell because his illustrations have stuck with me from a very young age... I chose this piece because various incomplete lines are apparent, notably towards the bottom right.

"Sketchbook: Thick Line"

David Lynch,  2008‑09, Watercolor

I chose David Lynch because he's one of my favorite all around artists. He draws, he paints, he makes music and films.... also I chose this piece in particular because there's a giant thick line at the bottom of the page.

"Storytelling Through Line"

In the "Storytelling Through Line" project I used one of the most chaotic days I can remember for inspiration. To tell my story I wanted to display the internal dialogue running through my subconscious that day. My Story starts with a gaping cavern where thoughts flow aimlessly along a warm body of water. Not far above, a mysterious veil of clouds conceals vast amounts of information. Spilling out of the clouds is a toxic parasite, poisoning everything within it's reach. The parasite pushes through the clouds connecting to it's source. A throbbing bulbous creature sits at the epicenter of the chaos, it's bloodshot eye rolling back and forth. Tentacle limbs protrude from the creature squirming to find footing. Those that do, burrow themselves into my brain. They branch off into spidery veins that pulse at a snail pace. others slither across like centipedes digging themselves in tightly. There's a dark endless hole in my brain where pitch black sludge pours like sap. The sludge clears and a thorn like structure stands soaked in blackness. Now all of this is great imagery but it's personal meaning is obscured. To clarify my thoughts this drawing is a representation of my brain in the thick of pure chaos. The parasite represents disruption in my brain functioning; as does the black liquid. I envision the parasite as a thick substance lodging itself between two cogs, preventing optimal operating capabilities. The cavern represents an open clear space where thoughts process normally. This adds to my idea of chaos; while the parasite ravages my brain another part of me is calm and collected (the steady stream of thoughts). All these emotions took place on a day filled with panic attacks; however I was also at point in my life where I could calm myself down. The day was a constant battle between my infectious anxiety and my need for inner peace. I hope I have spun an thoughtful and vivid story; thanks for reading.

Crayon Rubbing

1. "3 Steps of Critiqe"

Descriptive Analysis
Compositional Analysis
Interpretational Analysis

2.

1. This is a crayon rubbing. It contains the colors green, pink and purple. The words rest and room are in the rubbing. The handicap symbol is in the rubbing.

2. The braile adds texture and depth. The instantly recognizable handicap symbol paired with the words restroom makes a clear connection in the average person "Handicap accessible restroom".

3. This rubbing unintentionally represents to me 90's MTV through the color scheme... . the neon colors are straight out of 90's fashion.
White and pink spandex... Neon, neon neon. The message of this piece is "neon handicap friendly bathrooms"... I feel there is a lack of detail and depth to the rubbing; in the future I hope to add more intricacies...

1. "Introduction"

I'm Andre, I think being who you truly are through creativity is a wonderful thing. I've always gravitated towards the arts, whether it's movies, music, dancing, drawing etc. Recently I've narrowed my interest in the arts down to sculpting; however I intend to learn as much about various forms of art as possible. Ideally I'd be working as an art teacher in San Francisco...

2. "Sample of My Artwork"

3. "My Artwork"

I like creating abstract art, that manipulates the human form...

4. "Favorite Art"

I like extreme sometimes explicit art as long as it's truly original...

5. "Major"

I am greatly considering becoming an art major.

6. "Class Goals"

I want to use this class as an opportunity to further build up my foundation in art.

7. "Vacation Spot" I love the atmosphere there; everyone seems really down to earth and open minded.

8. "Pet" I have two cats, I've grown up around them.

9. "More About Me" I'm relatively easy going, and accepting of others... I find the unique and strange refreshing, and I'm extremely honest.
